DESCRIPTION:https://affordablehousingactivation.org/web/app/uploads/2022/03/ANNA-HERINGER-1.mp4\n  \nThe exhibition\, organised by the ICO Foundation and curated by Luis Fernández-Galiano\, can be visited from 9 February to 8 May 2022.    \nAnna Heringer (Rosenheim\, Germany\, 1977)\, a visionary and multi-award-winning architect with work on three continents\, is committed to the use of local materials and techniques to offer a better future. Her work is based on the exploration and use of architecture as a means to support local economies and promote ecological balance.    \nFor her: “Sustainability is synonymous with beauty\, and what defines the aesthetic and sustainable value of a building is that it is in harmony with its design\, structure\, technique and use of materials\, as well as in relation to its location\, the environment\, the user and the socio-cultural context”. The visit proposes a journey through the work and philosophy of Anna Heringer\, who is deeply interested in the sustainable development of our society and the built environment.    \nShe focuses her work on the use of local materials and techniques to create buildings that are characteristic of the place where they are located. These concepts are reflected in the exhibition; in addition\, the presentation of the projects is supported by textiles made by Bangladeshi women who reproduce the floor plans and elevations of their buildings. The exhibition is completed with texts (such as the Laufen Manifesto\, promoted by the architect herself)\, photographs\, drawings and maquettes that trace a route through the principal projects undertaken by Anna Heringer since 2006.    \nIn all her works she applies one of the most important lessons learned in Rudrapur\, the rural village in Bangladesh where she built her first project – the METI Rural School\, Aga Khan Award 2007 – and where\, today\, she continues to work and collaborate in initiatives for local progress: that the most successful development strategy consists of relying on existing and readily available resources and making the most of them\, rather than relying on external systems.    \nThis leads it to involve local communities in the construction of all its projects\, not only as a way of ensuring that they meet the needs for which they were designed\, but also as a means of providing training in traditional construction techniques to enable the future personal and professional development of its members. Not forgetting that this type of involvement develops a sense of belonging in the community that guarantees the proper and lasting conservation of the buildings. This way of working is embodied in his maxim “Form follows love” which\, in contrast to Louis Sullivan’s famous “Form follows function”\, exemplifies the revolutionary nature of his conception of architecture.   \nMoreover\, with projects such as the RoSana Centre guesthouse – winner of a New European Bauhaus Award in 2021 – in Germany\, or the ecotourism project at Cortijo La Donaira in Ronda\, Spain – both developed in collaboration with Martin Rauch – he has demonstrated that building with earth\, a fundamental element in all his architecture\, is perfectly viable in today’s Europe.

SUMMARY:Legislative action for the promotion of adequate and affordable housing
DESCRIPTION:In the face of the barriers to the generation of affordable housing\, the central message of this session will be action-oriented and to propose or describe solutions and tools for urban legislation that enhance the development of appropriate legal frameworks for sustainable\, inclusive and resilient cities. \nLegal frameworks at national and local level play an essential role in the development of the housing sector in general and affordable housing in particular. Urban housing legislation needs to be defined and implemented from various dimensions and elements such as environment\, employment\, access to services\, mobility\, safety\, security\, education\, culture\, poverty\, marginalisation\, citizen participation\, gender equality and human rights. Effective and equitable legal frameworks must be advocated to support the implementation of sustainable urban and territorial development at all levels. \nThis event will provide a relevant and often non-existent discussion on the lack of legal mechanisms to assist/enforce both public and private institutions in the creation of adequate and affordable housing. The outcome of the event will be a series of concrete legislative proposals that can be implemented in national and local frameworks. \nThe event will be co-organised by OnCities2030 and the College of Urban Jurisprudence (CJUR International). Experts in sustainable urban development will be invited\, with a multidisciplinary approach\, but with the aim of reflecting and presenting actions needed to consolidate sustainable urban transformation in international\, national and local legal frameworks. \nThe format of the event will be based on the methodology applied by OnCities2030 of “intelligence unit” in which a number of people are invited to work collaboratively on an action-oriented proposal.

SUMMARY:GUIDED VISIT TO THE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT LA ROSILLA 4 BY ETSAM STUDENTS
DESCRIPTION:https://youtu.be/GmCGIQVUfYE\n\n \nEs necesario generar propuestas capaces de adecuarse a los nuevos retos sociales y los tipos de núcleos familiares que conforman el tejido social en una exploración de lo cotidiano.  \nLa parcela RC 4 se sitúa en un nuevo desarrollo urbanístico denominado APE 18.05 “La Rosilla” en Madrid junto al distrito de Vallecas. La Rosilla se encuentra en el triángulo formado por la Carretera de Villaverde a Vallecas\, la avenida Mayorazgo y la calle Castejón de Henares.  \nEl proyecto busca generar una pieza de transición entre el espacio urbano difuso que lo caracteriza y el nuevo parque situado al sur. Las piezas se organizan en dos escalas alternas\, la que agota la altura máxima de ocho plantas y la que cuentan con cinco plantas. Su colocación ortogonal permite una heterogeneidad en la percepción desde la vía pública y una clara discontinuidad en los planos de fachadas.  \nLa limitación normativa de profundidad de los edificios a 12 metros y los límites de factores de relación entre zonas comunes y privadas aconsejan organizar el conjunto de accesos a las viviendas mediante núcleos para dos viviendas en el edificio longitudinal y núcleo para 4 en el vertical. En la búsqueda de la mejora de estos aspectos\, se organizan viviendas de configuración flexible que permite una estancia pasante que contiene la cocina y el estar claramente separados y un vestíbulo con almacenamiento\, de manera paralela a este espacio\, se organizan las zonas de noche con los dormitorios. Esta estructura permite incluir 71 viviendas protegidas de precio básico (VPPB)\, 3 de ellas para PMR.  \nLos edificios dispondrán de un zócalo denso y rugoso construido mediante fabrica en aparejos con volumen\, mientras que el resto de las envolventes de los edificios se construyen mediante un sistema SATE que optimiza el comportamiento energético del mismo. A lo largo del jardín se generan unos núcleos de actividad formados por un espacio de pavimento blando en áreas de juegos infantiles\, unos bancos y una zona de plantación de plantas tapizantes y árboles que desarrollen gran porte y hoja caduca\, permitiéndose la plantación al liberar el espacio bajo rasante el ámbito central de la parcela.  \nFecha y lugar:\nMiércoles 4 de mayo a las 15:00 – Villa de Vallecas.
