DESCRIPTION:En la segunda edición del taller audiovisual\, dentro del curso Arquitectura y Cine a cargo del profesor Antonio Pizza\, la directora Maria Mauti\, con el fotógrafo Ciro Frank Schiappa les propuso a los estudiantes trabajar sobre el Cementerio de Igualada\, obra maestra del arquitecto catalán Enric Miralles\, en los veinte años desde su desaparición. Poco después\, llegó la noticia que habían cerrado  Igualada. Jane is an Architect and registered NRAC access consultant\, she has over 30 years’ experience in inclusion. As a leading expert in inclusion\, she works on all sectors\, including residential schemes nationwide. She has contributed to the development of Inclusive Design Practices and standards is a member of the Selwyn Goldsmith Awards Judging Panel\, contributes to the Royal Institute of British Architects including\, the International Union of Architects Region 1 Architecture for All Work Group. \nDelfín Jiménez Martín. Delfín Jiménez Martín Delfin has a Ph. D in architecture from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and is currently Director of “EQAR\, Planning\, Building and Accessibility”. He is participating in several projects of international standards on Accessibility for UNE\, ISO and the European Commission. He has extensive experience as a Universal Accessibility consultant with entities such as ONCE Foundation\, PREDIF\, ILUNION\, and with AENOR and ENAC as an expert in certification audits in Accessibility. He is professor of the Master of Accessibility at the University of Jaén\, director of the COAM Accessibility Training Plan and lecturer in numerous other courses at UPM\, COAM\, Madrid Council…). He has several publications on accessibility in the physical environment and has participated as a speaker at numerous International Conferences. He is president of ASEPAU\, Spanish Association of Universal Accessibility Professionals\, member of IAAP (International Association of Accessibility Professionals) and Spanish representative in the Smart Cities for all\, of the G3ict.  \nNieves Peinado Margalef. Nieves Peinado Margalef Nieves trained as an Architect at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Since 1991 she has developed her professional background at the Architecture Department of the Spanish Reference Center for Personal Autonomy and Technical Aids (CEAPAT). CEAPAT is a governmental centre belonging to Imserso\, Ministry of Health\, Social Services and Equality whose mission is to contribute to making the rights of persons with disabilities and older persons effective\, through accessibility\, assistive products and technologies and design for all. Working at CEAPAT has given Nieves an expertise on Universal Design and Accessibility in the built environment. She also participates in training activities and in national and international working groups as UNE\, CEN and ISO.  \nKate McGechan. Kate McGechan Kate is an Architect and registered NRAC access consultant. Kate joined Haverstock in 2005 and is an experienced architect and inclusive design consultant. She has led a series of award-winning education\, housing\, and community projects. In 2021 was awarded the RIBA South East Architect of the Year Award for her work on Linden Farm Supported Living. She is a member of LLDC’s Built Environment Access Panel (BEAP) and the chair of London region of the Access Association and has gained NRAC (Access) Consultant accreditation. Kate was the project architect of Linden Farm Supported Living Setting for young adults with autism. The design provides residents with an exemplar home environment\, whilst enabling the assistance of supported living care. The project won the Selwyn Goldsmith Award for Universal Design and received an honourable mention in UIA’s Friendly and Inclusive Spaces awards 2021.  \nIsabella Tiziana Steffan. Isabella Tiziana Steffan Isabella is an architect and Certified Professional Ergonomist. She is active in the fields of planning\, designing\, research\, standardisation\, on accessibility and usability of environment\, products\, services. She has been a selected expert within the European Community Mandate 420\, for developing a new standard “EN 17210:2021 – Accessibility and usability of the built environment – Functional requirements” and two related technical reports. She is chair of the Technical Committee “Ergonomics in Design for All” of IEA – International Ergonomics Association\, and an active member of the EDF- the European Disability Forum Expert group on Built environment and of the UIA Architecture for All WG (since 2011)\, now representing the CNAPPC– the Italian Council of Architects.  \nOrganizado por: UIA Region I

It does not meet the today’s requirements for energy efficiency and is not attractive to the inhabitants anymore: this type of housing fails to correspond to the current needs and way of life of people\, and often is perceived as dull\, grey and visually unappealing.   \n“Today\, there are several different governmental renovation programs implemented by different European countries\, concerned mostly with thermal insulation and energy efficiency. “With the series of events and activities\, we are trying to rise a movement\, to create a model / methodology and (in future stages) to implement a pilot project of something more: improvement of each flat\, common indoor and outdoor spaces\, and at the same time keeping the visual quality and architectural unity of the whole quarter. Of course\, the renovation process should include the inhabitants. Additionally\, we’d search for chances for new financial and legal tools that would allow participation of different stakeholders\, both private and public\, in renovation. And last but not least\, the renovation should not exclude the most vulnerable social groups that usually dwell in such a housing from decision making processes or displace them afterwards; it should create an attractive living environment for everyone” summarizes the curator of the initiative\, President of the Architects Association of Lithuania Rūta Leitanaitė.  \nThe idea for Holistic renovation for modernism housing project came as a Baltic response to the European Commission’s New European Bauhaus (NEB) program call. “We strongly believe that this topic is relevant to all the countries that have a vast legacy of the post-war period – huge districts (micro-rayons) of modernism\, prefabricated housing stock. Post-soviet countries have to deal with the same problems and challenges\, and other European countries are also considering the future of modernist housing” says Rūta Leitanaitė.  \nThe event “Holistic renovation for modernism housing” is a joint event of the International Union of Architects (Region 1 and Region 2). The event is initiated by the Architects Association of Lithuania and Baltic Architects Unions Association (BAUA). The partners of the event are Madrid Forum 2022 and Architects Council of Europe (ACE). The event is a side event of the Madrid Forum 2022 “Affordable housing”.  \nAfter several international debates and events in Lithuania in 2021\, the initiative resumed with an international online conference Holistic Renovation of Modernism Housing on April 11\, 2022.  15 lecturers from different countries\, including Mies van der Rohe Award recipients Christophe Hutin (2019) and Xander Vermeulen Windsant (2017) as well as Olena Olyinik\, the Vice-President of the National Union of Architects of Ukraine\, presented implemented projects and research on the topic. According to the BAUA president Juris Poga\, the conference and the upcoming exhibition\, which will be followed by a book\, will serve as a platform to discuss the most relevant topics\, to highlight the challenges\, to share the experience\, and to present the best European practices of holistic renovation of modernism housing.  \nThe exhibition showcasing 11 European examples and research of a holistic renovation of the housing built after the WWII will be inaugurated in Madrid on 16 May 2022 at 15:45 CET during the Madrid Forum “Affordable housing”. La accesibilidad no cuesta más.  \nSe realizó una comparación entre los costos de viviendas accesibles y no accesibles de planes de vivienda social en Argentina\, en su relación con los costos producidos por caídas de Personas Mayores de 60 años y más en Argentina y su relación con los costos de los cuidados domiciliarios de aquellas Personas Mayores que los requieran\, especialmente ante la discapacidad y la dependencia. Se concluyó que los aumentos de superficies en viviendas accesibles o adaptables no son directamente proporcionales al costo de la construcción. SUMMARY:MORE ARCHITECTS – a proposal of CAU BRASIL to foster decent housing for all 
DESCRIPTION:Mostrar las acciones de la CAU en este ámbito\, tal como se describe en https://caubr.gov.br/moradiadigna/  \nEn Brasil\, existe una Ley Federal que garantiza asistencia técnica pública y gratuita a familias de bajos ingresos para el diseño y construcción de viviendas sociales\, pero el gobierno en geral no ha destinado recursos a proyectos ni ha priorizado la implementación de esta Ley. El evento mostrará el CAU como referente para la consecución de estos objetivos\, ilustrando la importancia de los consejos profesionales y los organismos reguladores de la arquitectura y el urbanismo como actores en la financiación de ATHIS (Asistencia Técnica para Vivienda de Interés Social) y mejoramientos de viviendas.  \nEntre 2015 y 2021\, CAU fue uno de los principales agentes de financiación de vivienda en el país\, con más de 200 acciones y más de 9 millones de reales invertidos. El programa MAIS ARQUITETOS\, prioridad de la actual administración\, tiene como objetivo sensibilizar a la sociedad sobre la vivienda digna como un derecho de todos. El año pasado\, destinó 1 millón de reales a 9 proyectos repartidos por todo Brasil\, en todas sus regiones. SUMMARY:Large-Scale Transformation\, a New Sustainability Challenge. Kleiburg in Amsterdam\, Grand Parc in Bordeaux.
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition puts into dialogue two of the most relevant examples of the transformation of housing blocks built in the 60s and 70s in Europe\, winners of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award.      \nBased on these examples\, presented through photographs\, texts\, models and videos\, other projects with similar characteristics that were demolished are related by means of a timeline. Other examples of collective housing built more recently are presented with models and two texts\, one by Francis Rambeft and the other by Josep Maria Montaner and Zaida Muxí\, serve to introduce the theme and follow the narrative thread of the exhibition.   \nAs Josep Maria Montaner and Zaida Muxí write\, “In general\, emblematic examples of large-scale collective housing complexes are studied at the time they were designed\, built and inaugurated\, but very little has been studied and written about how each of these buildings evolved and adapted\, to find out what their legacy really was. Houses are for living\, and their maintenance and adaptability is essential. Therefore\, the key to progress lies in how and what we can learn from experience.    \nModern collective housing is living heritage\, so it is important to know its transformations and appropriations; to understand what have been the qualities of construction and remodelling facilities”. Based on this reflection\, the exhibition allows us to debate about these housing blocks that are found in most European cities\, how to deal with them in order to improve the living conditions of their inhabitants\, and at the same time to do so by looking at examples of new collective housing blocks built in recent years.   \nThe exhibition shows two exemplary projects for their transformation with the aim of improving the quality of life of their inhabitants\, taking each of them into account.  It also provides a framework in which to address specific proposals on access to housing\, based on concrete examples that can be copied\, adapting them to the specific contexts of each place.   \nThree years ago\, the renovation of one of the largest apartment buildings in the Netherlands\, called Kleiburg\, received the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2017. The Prize had never been won by a collective housing project until then. Just a year ago\, a different group of jury members decided to award the 2019 Prize to the transformation of three social housing blocks in Bordeaux.   \nIn both cases\, the existing buildings belonged to the massive construction wave that occurred in the 1960s in European cities. They are two successful survivors who escaped the wrecking ball. SUMMARY:GUIDED VISIT TO THE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT LA ROSILLA 4 BY ETSAM STUDENTS
DESCRIPTION:https://youtu.be/GmCGIQVUfYE\n\n \nEs necesario generar propuestas capaces de adecuarse a los nuevos retos sociales y los tipos de núcleos familiares que conforman el tejido social en una exploración de lo cotidiano.  \nLa parcela RC 4 se sitúa en un nuevo desarrollo urbanístico denominado APE 18.05 “La Rosilla” en Madrid junto al distrito de Vallecas. La Rosilla se encuentra en el triángulo formado por la Carretera de Villaverde a Vallecas\, la avenida Mayorazgo y la calle Castejón de Henares.  \nEl proyecto busca generar una pieza de transición entre el espacio urbano difuso que lo caracteriza y el nuevo parque situado al sur. Las piezas se organizan en dos escalas alternas\, la que agota la altura máxima de ocho plantas y la que cuentan con cinco plantas. Su colocación ortogonal permite una heterogeneidad en la percepción desde la vía pública y una clara discontinuidad en los planos de fachadas.  \nLa limitación normativa de profundidad de los edificios a 12 metros y los límites de factores de relación entre zonas comunes y privadas aconsejan organizar el conjunto de accesos a las viviendas mediante núcleos para dos viviendas en el edificio longitudinal y núcleo para 4 en el vertical. SUMMARY:Legislative action for the promotion of adequate and affordable housing
DESCRIPTION:In the face of the barriers to the generation of affordable housing\, the central message of this session will be action-oriented and to propose or describe solutions and tools for urban legislation that enhance the development of appropriate legal frameworks for sustainable\, inclusive and resilient cities. \nLegal frameworks at national and local level play an essential role in the development of the housing sector in general and affordable housing in particular. Urban housing legislation needs to be defined and implemented from various dimensions and elements such as environment\, employment\, access to services\, mobility\, safety\, security\, education\, culture\, poverty\, marginalisation\, citizen participation\, gender equality and human rights. Effective and equitable legal frameworks must be advocated to support the implementation of sustainable urban and territorial development at all levels. \nThis event will provide a relevant and often non-existent discussion on the lack of legal mechanisms to assist/enforce both public and private institutions in the creation of adequate and affordable housing. The outcome of the event will be a series of concrete legislative proposals that can be implemented in national and local frameworks. \nThe event will be co-organised by OnCities2030 and the College of Urban Jurisprudence (CJUR International). Experts in sustainable urban development will be invited\, with a multidisciplinary approach\, but with the aim of reflecting and presenting actions needed to consolidate sustainable urban transformation in international\, national and local legal frameworks. \nThe format of the event will be based on the methodology applied by OnCities2030 of “intelligence unit” in which a number of people are invited to work collaboratively on an action-oriented proposal.

SUMMARY:Rebuilding Homes from Typhoon Odette: A Post-Disaster Round-table Discussion 
DESCRIPTION:Devastation is a way of life in the Philippines. Every year\, the country gets hit by at least 20 typhoons. Ultimately\, one of those annual typhoons would sweep out the provinces and carry loss\, destruction\, and heartache. Typhoon Odette has hit the small island of Siargao at the southern portion of the Philippines\, and has flattened the area when it brought hurricane winds\, heavy rain\, and death to the villagers.   \nFaced with this recurring dilemma\, a group of stakeholders will have a sit-down with expert panelists\, and will try not to provide a solution\, but go to notions of identifying the main problems with the island: its design\, geography\, housing and disaster response\, especially for Persons with Disabilities.
