Graduated in Law from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in the class of 1991, entering two years later, by competitive examination, in the Corps of Property and Mercantile Registrators of Spain (currently on work leave). She has completed other advanced studies such as the Senior Management Program (PADE-A-2013) and the “Women on Boards of Directors” program, both offered by IESE Business School.
In her public career, among the positions and functions she has held, she has been Minister of Housing and President of the Board of Directors of the Public Business Entity of Land, SEPES; Secretary of State for Housing and Urban Actions; councilwoman in the City Council of Madrid and director of the Municipal Company of Housing and Land, as well as deputy in the Congress of Deputies.
She is also currently vice-president of the Patronato of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. She has also been Director of Institutional Relations of the Association of Registrars and President of the Pablo Iglesias Foundation.
On the academic side, it is worth mentioning her experience as an associate professor at the Universidad Nebrija, IE University and the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura, of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. She has received, among other awards, the Grand Cross of the Royal and Distinguished Spanish Order of Carlos III.
