Rafael de La-Hoz

Born in Cordoba, Rafael de La-Hoz is an architect from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid and holds an MDI master’s degree from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. 

He has taught at the School of Architecture in Barcelona at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) and at the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca (UPSA) and currently runs the Rafael de La-Hoz architectural practice, founded by his grandfather, one of the forerunners of the modernisation of Spanish architecture, and is a visiting professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH).  

His best-known works include large-scale projects such as Telefónica’s Distrito C (2008) and the Rey Juan Carlos Hospital (2012), as well as small-scale projects such as the PB House (2021) and the Rafael del Pino Foundation (2005).   

His work has been published in many national and international media. He was awarded the Medal of the Higher Council of Architects’ Associations of Spain (CSCAE) in 2017, as well as the Medal of the City of Cordoba in 2020.
