Margrit Hugentobler

Margrit Hugentobler, M.S.W., Ph.D. in Urban, Technological and Environmental Planning (University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA). Following some years of research in the U.S., she joined the interdisciplinary research group ETH CASE Center for Architecture, Society & the built Environment (ETH Wohnforum) in the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich as a research associate and senior scientist. She directed the research group between 2009-2016.  

Research foci: Access to affordable housing; housing quality, housing innovations, housing cooperatives, housing needs of women, the elderly, immigrants. She is president of a foundation that facilitates access to housing for socially and financially disadvantaged families.  

She also serves as an expert on socio-spatial aspects and building use in architectural planning competition. She has published in German and English on housing and sustainable urban development, cooperative housing innovations, shared living spaces and other housing related topics.
