Promotion and production

There is a great diversity of housing development and production forms in the public and private sectors and various states of partnerships between both sectors. Also, a very significant part of the housing built in the world is self-produced or self-managed by the people. This diversity has, in some cases, facilitated the affordability of housing. On the other hand, the adaptation of existing housing stock and slum upgrading and urban regeneration has proven practical tools for improving housing adequacy and affordability.
